Goldwing Express to perform at Winter Texan Expo
Special to Welcome Home Winter Texan
Goldwing Express is a Bluegrass, Country and Gospel band originally from Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The group is comprised of three brothers whose family roots run deep in music. Their mother, Juanita, a full-blood Native American Creek Indian, named the band “Goldwing Express” after their family hobby of riding Goldwing motorcycles in the 1980s. When the boys were young, their parents bought them instruments, and forty-four years later, they are still entertaining audiences across the country.
A segment of every performance celebrates their Native American heritage, with the brothers wearing traditional headdress to honor their Creek Indian tribe. In Nashville, Tennessee, Goldwing Express was nominated for Bluegrass Entertaining Band of the Year by SPBGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) from 2003–2006, and in South Texas they won the Valley Star Family Entertaining Band of the Year in the Rio Grande Valley for four years.
Bob Baldridge (1945–2025), the family patriarch, played mandolin, sang lead, and delivered much of the comedy that became a hallmark of Goldwing Express. His music career began in the early 1970s with his siblings during all-day singings at their grandmother’s house. He later fulfilled his dream of forming a family band — and thus Goldwing Express, with sons Paul, Steven and Shawn, was born.
