The City of McAllen is proud to sponsor and host the second annual Festival Internacional de Poesía Latinoamericana(FEIPOL), which celebrates the Hispanic culture of the Rio Grande Valley, Mexico and Central America through poetry and the arts.  The annual conference will feature a bevy of international-renowned poets and artists and other special guests who promote the arts and Hispanic culture.  FEIPOL will be held at the McAllen Public Library from October 5-7, 2017 and is free and open to the public.  Poetry slams, poetry scavenger hunt, workshops and presentations are all a part of this year’s event.  The event will culminate with an invite-only gala on Saturday that will feature a silent auction of work commissioned by local artists in honor of the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge.  The artwork will be available to the public to bid on during the conference.

“Celebrating the beauty of the Hispanic culture through the arts, especially poetry, is what stirs the soul,” said City of McAllen Mayor Jim Darling.  “The passion is unmatched and this art form is a fitting outlet for all the stories there are to tell about a rich and vibrant culture.  I invite the community to come and enjoy poetry by international poets right here at your McAllen Public Library.”
