‘tis the Season Market Days is in its second year and is quickly becoming a local favorite for area shoppers. The event was conceived by Liz Harris, President of Parents at Work at Saint Joseph Academy in Brownsville. Harris collaborated with several members of the school’s parent organization, Parents at Work or PAWS, to brainstorm different opportunities that would help the group with raising much needed funds. Funds from the event would be used by the organization to provide support to the school’s faculty members. With a Preview Party taking place the evening before, one can expect to see over 20 vendors showcasing unique items during this two day shopping extravaganza.

“‘tis the Season Market Days is an event that you don’t normally find in Brownsville. The larger cities have events similar to this where local and unique vendors come together to sell their items. Many of which can only be found through direct contact with the vendor,” says VP for Academy Advancement Donna Barron. “PAWS and the Advancement Office has worked hard to bring vendors together under one roof that you normally couldn’t find in your local shopping mall.”

Indeed, market days offers a different flair which includes pieces by local artists Don Breeden and Fafi Melguizo, handcrafted jewelry by Hecho por Liz, imported accessories from the cities of Veracruz, Oaxaca and Mexico City and homemade, artisan preserves plus many more.

‘tis the Season Market Days will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday, December 3rd from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission for either day is $5. A Preview Party will be held on Friday, December 1st from 6 PM to 9 PM. Admission for the preview party is $35 and includes entertainment and hors d’oeuvres as well as free admission into Market Days on either the 2nd or the 3rd.
