What: Winter Walking Tours
When: January – Mid-March
Where: Gladys Porter Zoo, 500 Ringgold St., Brownsville, TX 78520
 
Knowledgeable docents are conducting walking tours around the Zoo, upon request. Docents not only provide a tour of the facility but they also tell a range of stories from the history of the zoo to animal anecdotes.  The tour can be customized to the participant’s level of interest, mobility and time available.  Walking Tours are free with regular admission or Zoo membership. To schedule a tour, call the Education Department at (956) 546-7187 or email educ@gpz.org at least a week in advance.
What: Saturday Safari: The Fast and the Furry         
When: Saturday, March 10th – 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: South Texas Discovery Education Center, Gladys Porter Zoo
 
Enroll your child for Saturday morning fun at the Zoo. You can join, too! Come learn about large wild cats and their attributes that make them apex predators A Zoo tour, arts & crafts, animal encounter and snacks are included in each class. What: Jr. Zookeeper Camp
When: March 12-16, 2018 – 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Join the few, the proud and the hard-working staff that gets to work with wild animals. Find out what it takes to take care of animals and get to help with some of the daily chores at the Zoo. The camp will conclude with a Starlight Safari Sleepover at 6:30 p.m. on March 17th. The minimum age for Jr. Zookeeper Camp is seven years. The week-long camp and sleepover is $155 for Zoo Members and $175 for non-members. 30-minute early drop-off or pick-up can be arranged. What: Bunny Corral & Easter Bazaar
When: Easter Bazaar: March 30th – April 1st, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bunny Corral: March 31st – April 1st, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Where: Gladys Porter Zoo
 
Everyone is invited to “hop” on over to the Zoo’s annual Bunny Corral and Easter Bazaar. Our Bunny Corral, a visitor favorite, will be open across from Small World. The bunnies will be available to pet and docents will be on hand to answer questions about the adorable animals. Visit the Easter Bazaar in the special events building where vendors will be displaying and selling their Easter crafts. All activities are free to visitors with paid admission or Zoo membership. Plus, on Easter Sunday, the first 50 children to visit the Zoo will receive a free foam bunny mask. For more information call the Gladys Porter Zoo at (956) 546-7187.
