Join McAllen Public Library on Saturday November 11, 2017 for the fourth annual McAllen Book Festival, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and will feature a diverse group of national, regional and local authors who will participate in readings and panel discussions. The event is expressly organized for children, teens, and their families. This year’s author lineup includes Pura Belpre Award winner, Benjamin Alire Saenz and local favorite, David Bowles.
Attendees may purchase books at the Festival and have them signed by the authors. Storybook Garden is the Festival’s exclusive bookseller.
Attendees can expect a jubilee atmosphere with fun inflatables, an activity tent by IMAS, and games for the entire family. There will be free books, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, and fresh lemonade for children and teens, while supplies last. Parents may purchase tacos, fajitas, and carnitas on site through the Stripes food truck. Contacto Animal and the Jedi Masters of Music will offer special presentations and are sure to entertain.
“There are so many amazing activities at the McAllen Book Festival that the whole family can enjoy, but one of the most special is the opportunity for children and teens to interact with the authors” says Kate Horan, McAllen Public Library Director. “This is an important moment because not only are they are thrilled to meet their favorite authors, but also, it helps to reinforce for them that love for reading and they may be inspired to write their own books.”
