Description

Texas Gulf Trawling, LLC operates a fleet of shrimp boats out of the Port of Brownsville shrimp basin.  This tour starts with a comprehensive presentation on the Gulf shrimping industry, you’ll have the opportunity to step on board an actual shrimp boat, learn about the cleaning process, participate in a peeling contest, and taste the merchandise!  Guests are welcome to visit the store following the tour to purchase Texas Gold wild-caught shrimp.

Tour Includes:

 

  • Presentation on shrimping in the gulf
  • Tour of a shrimp boat
  • An interactive presentation about shrimp once it’s caught
  • Fresh shrimp sampling
  • Time for shopping in their store for fresh shrimp to take home

Not included:

  • Transportation is not included.

 

Tour Details:

  • Tour begins at 10:00 am
  • Duration: 2 1/2 Hours.
  • Transportation:  Drive yourself.
  • Activity Level: Activity Level: Mild to Medium.  
    • Most of the time on this tour is spent sitting. Walkers and wheelchairs can attend this tour. The parking lot is a gravel lot so walking and/or being pushed for a short distance is required. If you are unable to walk independently, you will not be able to board the shrimp boat. However, you can stand or sit on the dock beside the boat to hear and see the presentation. Full participation may require leisurely walking over uneven surfaces. If you need physical or mental assistance you must be traveling with someone able to assist you.
  • Booking:  Subject to availability.
  • *Sorry, but the shrimp boat does not accept walkers or wheelchairs. However, those with special needs can easily view the boat from the dock.

Each tour has a different activity level. Below are descriptions of what you could expect based on the activity level of the tour.

  • Mild: Primarily seated or leisurely paced activities, minimal walking or standing.
  • Medium: Moderate walking and standing, some stairs or uneven terrain may be involved.
  • High: Extensive walking, standing, and stairs; may include challenging terrain or strenuous activity.
  • Extreme: Very strenuous activity, including long periods of hiking over rough terrain, steep inclines, and potentially hazardous conditions. Requires a high level of physical fitness.

Ticket/Booking Details:

This is a ticketless event. Please check in with the Welcome Home RGV host at the designated pick-up location. You will receive a detailed email with meeting locations and instructions. Tickets are non-refundable but transferable.

Please note that tour activities may be altered or canceled at any time due to reasons beyond our control. We will make every effort to provide comparable alternatives when possible. We reserve the right to modify the itinerary or substitute activities as necessary for the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

Payment

We can take any major credit card, checks or cash payments. Credit card payments are subject to a 3.5% processing fee. Checks can be made payable to Travel by Welcome Home RGV, and mailed to Welcome Home RGV at 219 W. Nolana, McAllen, Texas 78504. Please indicate your selected tour or cruise in the memo line.

Deposits & Final Payment

Each reservation is held with a deposit. Once your reservation is made, you will be notified of final payment dates.

All tours are non-refundable but transferable.

Cruises and Land & Sea packages have different rules that apply, please confirm with our office upon booking.
