Tropic Star Hosts 7th Annual Event Honoring Veterans

Submitted by E. Louise Baker

A large group of residents gathered at Tropic Star on Sunday, February 15, 2026, for a heartfelt ceremony honoring the veterans who call the community home.

The Tropic Star Veterans Committee was proud to present eight quilts to local veterans during the event. The ceremony included the sharing of personal stories, making it a meaningful and memorable experience for everyone in attendance. Over the past seven years, the organization has presented a remarkable total of 185 quilts.

Each quilt is thoughtfully crafted by a dedicated group of volunteers who generously donate their time and talent. The project is supported by community contributions, which help cover the cost of fabric and machine quilting.

It’s more than just a quilt—it’s a gesture of gratitude. As each label reads:
“One quilt to warm you, thousands of stitches to thank you.”
