The Ultimate Run-cation Destination Awaits During the South Padre Island Half Marathon Weekend
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas, November 08, 2023 – Visit South Padre Island is thrilled to announce the return of the highly anticipated South Padre Island Half Marathon Weekend, scheduled for November 11-12, 2023. This two-day event promises an unforgettable “run-cation” experience, offering a variety of races and activities for runners of all levels.
“The South Padre Island Half Marathon Weekend is a unique celebration of athleticism and island life, with races that showcase the stunning coastal beauty of this Texan paradise,” said Blake Henry, South Padre Island CVB Executive Director. “Whether you’re a long-distance runner or prefer a shorter route, this event has the course you’re looking for and offers a unique opportunity for participants to experience the island in a way that only runners can. We’re excited to welcome those from both near and far to our little slice of paradise.”
The South Padre Island Half Marathon Weekend offers a variety of ways to get moving. Saturday, November 11, will see the Turtle Trot 5K ($30) and 1 Mile Fun Run ($25), while the Half Marathon ($80) will take place on Sunday, November 12. Runners can register for just one event or opt for the Loggerhead Challenge, which combines the Half Marathon with either the 5K or 1 Mile run ($110 or $100). There is also a Half Marathon Relay ($130) for those wishing to sign up in pairs. Isla Blanca Park will mark the starting line both days, with Saturday’s events beginning at 7 a.m. and Sunday’s kicking off at 6:45 a.m. For those participating, packet pickup times include Friday, November 10, from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, November 12, from 4-8 p.m. There will be no race day packet pickup. Awards will be announced and given at the end of Sunday’s race, so be sure to stick around.
